State Fair

We headed out to the state fair a couple of weekends ago and had a great time! Weather was fantastic and the crowds were manageable.

Let's start by talking about the food.  North Carolina State Fair is notorious for coming up with the craziest food and then deep frying all of it!

Drew went the safe route and got a corn dog! Smart guy :)

Here was Big Fella and I's choice.  A Krispy Kreme cheeseburger.  Yes, you read that right.  Well, look at the pictures for yourself and you can see our experience with this weird concoction.

Since I didn't like the burger this is what I went with:

Took time out from eating to smile for a picture :)

Here we are enjoying some of the games:

I thought this game would be a good idea:

But then this is what I ended up with:

and to answer your question, No I didn't even make it to the top to win.  Ended up in urgent care the next morning with the diagnosis of a sprained wrist.  My wrist bone still has settled back into place and it is 12 days or so out from the actual incident.  I am able to move it around more without the brace, but still get sharp pain from time to time, and still can not lift anything that is over 2 pounds.  Hopefully it will get better.  Definitely don't need a specialist bill right before the holidays.

Posing in front of the ferris wheel that lil fella drug us all the way across the fair to go see.  Didn't want to ride, just wanted to look.  Can't say I don't blame him, big fella and I aren't big fans of fair rides either.

What great memories we make at the state fair.  Little Fella is getting to the age to where he will hopefully remember bits and pieces of this day for many years to come.

Have a great night!

Redskins vs. Packers game

This past weekend, we headed up to D.C. with the in-laws to watch my husband's favorite team (Packers) play.  We spent ALOT of time in the car, but survived!  At halftime little fella and I headed out and found some ice cream.  This first picture is of him sitting on the concourse eating his ice cream, right before he fell asleep.

Poor little guy was EXHAUSTED!!  Right as he was finishing this, he curled up in my lap and fell asleep.  He slept almost the entire second half of the game in my arms sitting out on the concourse floor.  There was a very sweet woman that came up and asked if I needed anything "water, paper towels, anything" she said.  I said I was okay and thank you.  She said "I am a mother too and have been in your shoes, and just looking out for other mothers."  That was so sweet, and reminded me that people still do random acts of kindness and to pass that feeling along!

I absolutely fell in love with my little fella putting his right hand over his heart while the national anthem was sung.  Soooooo cute!

Focusing really hard on the coin toss!  He didn't say much during the 1st half- overwhelmed? taking it all in? tired?  Not sure what was going through his head, but loved seeing him watch his first professional football game.

My big fella in a self portrait :)  I love him!

My little fella with his grandma.

We spent a little time before the game tailgating.

This is the view headed over the Chesapake Bay Bridge at sunrise.  It was beautiful!

We had a great time, but will probably wait until little fella is a bit older before taking him to another professional football game.

Moving

Not from the house, but in blog land.  I've really been doing a lot of crafts lately, and decided that I would rather not liter the family blog with my crafts.  So, if you have come to look at the crafts, you can now go here:  http://craftinginjoco.blogspot.com/ .  If you are family or friends of ours and want to hang out on life in joco, then we would love to keep you here!

Don't be afraid to leave comments!  Everyone loves comments :)

Some Crafts

I have had the hardest time getting blogger photos to work for me.  I guess I haven't uploaded photos since they changed some things.  I dunno know, but if it takes me this long to upload photos for every post, then I'll really never get to post!

So onto some older but kinda recent crafts I've completed.

This is a "show off" board that I made for a co-worker's daughter.  She hung this up on her wall in her princess room, and switches out photos, art work, and school papers as she chooses!  I can't wait to make one for my son!

This was my 2nd attempt at making a glass lighted block.  I LOVE how it turned out.  I've seen so many different ways that you could work these, so I'll be trying out a couple of different methods!

A pocket sized hand sanitizer for a friend of mine! There will be many more of these to come!

A clay pot that I spray painted black, red polka dots, and inital. I have the plant on the inside in another plastic container so that when I water the plant, the clay pot won't suck up the water and make the paint run. This is sitting in the corner of my kitchen and I love it!

I have seen ALOT of these ribbon wreaths in blogger land lately.  The inital ribbon wreath that I saw was on Tatertots and Jello.  That woman is so AWESOME!  I loved the wreath, and just had to try one myself.  It took about a week to complete, with an hour here and there.  I learned so many things not to do again, so I hope my next one won't take as long.

I'm vacation from work right now, so crafting for the season change and upcoming holidays are high up on my list.  I promise that the next posts won't be full of random crafts!  Right now, I'm working on setting up a Halloween display on my front entrance table.  The rest of the house, I'm working on decorating for the season.  I don't have the time to change out decorations all the time, so I came up with a plan!  My front entrance table will be decorated for the ever changing holidays, and the rest of my house will reflect the season.  Maybe I can keep up then :)

Have a great day!

Where did the gradual change go?

The end of September went out with a 96 degree Saturday and then that Sunday was 72. It has stayed in the 60's and low 70's since then.  It seems to have gotten so cold so quickly.  We set so many records this summer with over 90 days at 90 degrees and above.  WHOA!

With the change of the weather, I came down with the flu (or so the dr. thinks). Today is day 10 and the first day that I haven't had to take medicine to get through the day.  I haven't been this sick in so long!!  With that being said, my fella's are lined up to get flu shots in the coming week.  I know flu shots aren't for everyone, but they are for us for many different reasons.  With my son's heart condition we have to be ultra protective of illnesses.

September went quickly.  My Big fella turned 30! I spent the first half of the month planning for that party.  And then the second half of the month was recovering! Here are some pic.'s from the party.....well maybe not. Having trouble uploading pictures.  Will be back tonight to upload!

Have a great Monday!

Running

This summer I had trained (diligently) for the Rock 'n Roll 1/2 marathon Relay in Virgnia Beach.  My sister in law ran the first half, and I ran the second half.  It was such a beautiful day, with an awesome course, with fantastic cheer squads and bands along the way.  I enjoyed it so much I'm signed up to run a couple more races before the year ends.

This is us goofing off the night before the race.

After the race with our bananas.  See you next year Rock 'n Roll 1/2 marathon!

This week I'm prepping for my husbands 30th birthday!!!  He is having a tailgate party here at the house, so lot's of planning is going down.  I'll be back next Monday to show pictures and let you know how the birthday went!

Have a great week Friends

Hurricane Earl

We are bracing for a possible hurricane in the next couple of days.  Hopefully it stays off the coast of North Carolina, but we'll be prepared if it decides otherwise.  Earl is proving to be pretty powerful, so say a prayer that he stays offshore!

We are headed to the beach this weekend to celebrate Labor Day with David's parents, and where I'll be running in the Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon relay with my sister in law.  I've been running 3-4 days a week training for this event.  I'm still in the run/walk stage of my training, but I know that I'll get across the finish line!

August went by so fast!!! I can't believe how quick the summer slipped away. Here are a few pictures of some things we have been up to!
